Eli is played by Denzel Washington (American Gangster, Training Day) and Carnegie is played by Gary Oldman (Harry Potter, Dracula, Air Force One). Mila Kunis (Family Guy, That 70’s Show) also stars in the movie as Solara. Solara is being controlled by Carnegie, who has her mother captured and wants her to stop Eli from completing his mission. Solara starts to try to do this but soon ends up helping Eli in his cause to save humanity. Jennifer Beales (Flashdance, The L Word) plays Solara’s mother, Claudia, a blind woman who is in Carnegies control and is also his mistress. Another major character in the movie is Redridge, played by Ray Stevenson (King Arthur, Punisher: War Zone). He is in charge of one of Carnegie’s crew and infatuated with Solara. Columbia Pictures signed the Hughes Brothers to direct this movie in 2007 but filming did not take place until 2009. Denzel Washington was casts the lead role in September 2008, with Gary Oldman being chosen to play Carnegie in October of the same year. The movie started filming in February of 2009 in New Mexico.
